  • Senior CAD Technician

    SENIOR CAD TECHNICIAN – Grade Level 10

     

    REPORTS TO: Project Manager

     

    LOCATION:      Hiring for our Michigan and Minnesota locations.

     

    SYNOPSIS

    The Senior CAD Technician works in partnership with the Project Managers, Architects, Engineers, and/or Designers, and is responsible for producing high quality construction documentation using CAD software of various types.  The Senior CAD Technician consistently produces high quality construction documentation in accordance with the project schedule and standards.  They often mentor other CAD Technicians on technical CAD software as well as construction assemblies and techniques in the built environment.  The successful candidate will work as a part of a national team delivering a variety of services in the residential and commercial markets.  They must have the ability to focus in a busy team environment utilizing strong time-management skills in order to successfully multi-task while producing work of high quality.  They must possess and exhibit a positive, “can do” attitude even in high stress situations with an unwavering commitment to “world class customer service.”

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepares complex Architecture and Engineering construction drawings for residential and commercial projects utilizing AutoCAD Architecture, REVIT and/or Sapphire Build (Blackpoint).
    • Produces Lot Specific and Master plans in accordance with Fieldstone and/or client-specific standards.
    • Develops and drafts architectural and engineering details and plans, assists management in preparing proposals and generates correspondence for clients and managers
    • Performs fieldwork, documentation, research and drafting tasks of architectural and engineering data as requested by clients or managers.
    • Maintains dynamic communication with contractors, clients, staff and the general public for any architectural, engineering or construction issues.
    • Consistently applies Fieldstone’s Quality Control procedures and takes ownership of their work.
    • Manages the proper filing of project submittals, RFIs and other project records both electronic and paper.
    • Maintains and complies with Fieldstone and client-specific standards (CAD, File Management, etc.)
    • Participates in occasional team meetings to help resolve project issues such as coordination, scheduling, and technical concerns.
    • Document time and expenses using Fieldstone’s business management system.
    • Fosters a culture of external and internal client service.

     

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Advanced knowledge of residential and/or commercial construction techniques, construction documents, and CAD concepts. General knowledge of building codes.
    • Advanced CAD/BIM drafting skills. Proficiency in Revit preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
    • Consistent ability to successfully meet deadlines.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

  • Licensed Structural Engineer

    LICENSED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

     

    REPORTS TO: Executive Team (ex: Chief Operations Officer or Vice President)

     

    LOCATION:      Tampa, FL

     

    SYNOPSIS:

    The Structural Engineer I works in partnership with the Project Manager, Architect, and Designer and is responsible for planning, designing and directing structural engineering elements for projects.

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Engineering Calculations & Design
    • Concrete, Masonry, Steel and Timber design
    • High-wind speed and Seismic
    • Residential and commercial structures
    • Analysis, reports & opinions
    • Development of construction documents
    • Repairs and Signing and Sealing

    LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT:

    • Responsible for managing engineering projects using Deltek Vision; complete work plans; including identification of project team members, budget, consultants, schedule for completion, fees and labor costs as well as project change notices or other actions taking place on the assigned project. Responsible for financial outcome of engineering projects.
    • Fosters and maintains a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team.
    • Participates in, and/or leads project teams.
    • Assists senior management in developing and validating project scope and fee, budget and scope of services during the marketing and contract development process.
    • Assists senior management in the preparation and execution of consultant contracts.
    • Assists with negotiating fees and contracts.
    • Checks completed reports, plans, estimates and calculations for accuracy.
    • Responsible for communication with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into the project and provides support as necessary.
    • Ensures that construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance and quality control policies and process.
    • Supervises preparation of technical drawings by other less senior-level engineers or technicians.
    • Mentors and directs the work of less-experienced staff, and may participate in professional development reviews.

     

    CLIENT INTERFACE:

    • Works on developing a positive relationship of communication and trust with Clients and Clients’ employees.
    • Regularly communicates with client representative to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews, and delivery of final presentation.

     

    TEAMWORK:

    •  Receives project direction from the Senior Architect and Senior Designer.
    • Shares, tracks, and coordinates electronic documentation and files with the project team, clients and consultants.
    • Assists in planning and conducting work making minor adaptations and modifications to complete construction document drawing sets.
    • Meets with municipal building department and other governing agency officials to coordinate approvals or variances.
    • Participates in occasional team meetings to help resolve project issues such as coordination, scheduling, and technical concerns.
    • Advanced design, visual, and graphic presentation skills.
    • Advanced hand and CAD drafting skills. Proficiency in Revit preferred.

     

    BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:

    • Participates in business development meetings with team leaders to target specified project, client, or market opportunities.
    • Identifies new business opportunities within the context of current client relationships.
    • Assists in development of fee proposals.
    • May participate in selected marketing and business development opportunities.

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems.
    • Advanced knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents.

  • MEP Engineer

    MEP ENGINEER

     

    REPORTS TO: Project Manager

     

    LOCATION:      Auburn Hills, MI or Tampa, FL

     

    SYNOPSIS:

    This is an experienced position involved in non‐routine and complex assignments. The MEP Engineer works with the Architectural Project Manager to develop design concepts which are incorporated in final product by Staff Architects, Designers and Engineers. The MEP Engineer, in role of project leader, may be called upon to handle project management tasks but will primarily work on technical aspects of Fieldstone projects.

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide schematic design information to the Architectural Project Manager such as mechanical and electrical room sizes and requirements.

    • Prepare preliminary task list.

    • Incorporate design concepts from schematic design into design development and work with project team to produce construction documents.

    • Produce sketches and system schematics for complicated design tasks such as layout of mechanical or electrical rooms.

    • Coordinate ceiling and wall clearances with other design professionals.

    • Select details that will be used on project.

    • Document existing conditions and perform some troubleshooting.

    • Edit specification sections.

    • Edit and coordinate control sequences for temperature control systems.

    • Attend construction meetings and produce site observation reports.

    • Produce final punch list.

    • Research non‐routine code issues and obtain interpretations from code officials.

    • Prepare addendum and change orders. Initiate additional service requests and turnover to Project Manager for submittal to client.

    • Prepare engineering opinion of probable cost for mechanical or electrical systems and review contractor cost estimates.

    • Provide value engineering.

    • Review drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design and production standards.

    • In role of project leader, coordinate staff activities to assure achieving goals of project budget, schedule and quality.

    • Use computer programs and spread sheets for engineering analysis and presentations.

    • Edit word‐processing documents and understand procedures for file saving, retrieving and transferring.

    • Maintain neat and organized work area that allows efficient access to project information required by other team members.

     

    LIMITS OF AUTHORITY:

    • The MEP engineer has authority to perform complex design duties under the direction of the Engineer of Record. May not change the scope of work or deviate from any other part of the contractual document without Project Manager approval. Coordinates work of staff within project team.

     

    RELATIONSHIP TO OTHERS:

    • Works directly for the various Project Managers according to assignment. Works under minimal supervision. May perform as a project leader. Helps in development of junior staff. Some client contact for project review and contractor coordination. Ability to communicate with project construction team to minimize misunderstanding and conflicts. Promote coordination and cooperation of in‐house project team.

     

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum 5 years’ previous design experience.

    • Bachelors of Engineering Degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.

    • Must be proficient in the use of computer for design, and understand CAD operations.

    • General knowledge of mechanical and electrical system design.

    • Understanding and knowledge of applicable codes.

    • Keep current on the “State of the Art” in their design specialty through review of periodicals and continuing education.

    • Professional Engineering license required.
